Star Trek: Scouts – Season 2, Episode 11: “Sprocket, Roo, and JR Rescue Aliens Under Mind Control!! – Holodeck Rescues #11”

Synopsis: The Star Trek Scouts attempted to rescue their pets from Shadowtrix.

This episode can be seen as an illustration of how what Carl (C. G.) Jung called the conscious ego needs to incorporate bits of what he termed unconscious material into itself, to make it stronger and the psyche more whole.

“Sprocket, Roo, and JR Rescue Aliens Under Mind Control!! – Holodeck Rescues #11” began with the Star Trek Scouts being informed on the circular display monitor that Shadowtrix had stolen their pets, Zips, Bubbles, Star, and took them to her moon base to make them a part of her intergalactic tactical animal army.

The Star Trek Scouts then entered the holodeck program. As they approached Shadowtrix’s moon base, they saw a vent through which they could enter it. Inside the base, Shadowtrix explained to Zips, Bubbles, and Star, that she was controlling the other animals through a small control disk she had placed on each animal’s head. She placed a disk on Zips and Star, saying that she had always wanted a unicorn dog. But before she could put one on the flying targ, Bubbles, Bubbles burped in fear. Sprocket, who along with the other Star Trek Scouts was in the vent, was able to smell Bubble’s burp breath, and Bubbles escaped Shadowtrix’s clutches. The Star Trek Scouts dropped into the room where Shadowtrix and the animals were, and tried to rescue them. But Roo got slimed by one of the animals controlled by Shadowtrix, and a baby horta that Shadowtrix was controlling bit Sprocket’s robo-arm as he tried retrieve the control device that Shadowtrix was holding in her hand. JR tried using a tractor beam, but he was not able to recover the device until Bubbles burped again. Her burp breath counteracted the mind control devices, which allowed the Star Trek Scout’s pets to save the day by knocking the control device out of the hands of Shadowtrix and into JR’s, which allowed the Star Trek Scouts to capture Shadowtrix.

In this episode, Bubble’s burp breath can be analogized to an individual’s unconscious. The unconscious that works in ways that are complimentary to and different from the ways of the conscious ego. Bubble’s burp breath not only allowed the Star Trek Scouts to locate where the animals were being held by Shadowtrix, but it was also able to appeal to the animals even more strongly than Shadowtrix’ mind control device. This illustrates how the unconscious is a very important part of one’s psyche, and how integrating different bits of it into the conscious ego, can make the ego stronger and the psyche more whole.
