Star Trek: Scouts – Season 1, Episode 10: “Star Trek Scouts Blast a Horta in Outer Space! – Asteroid Blaster #10”Scouts –

Synopsis: The Star Trek Scouts work with a Horta to defeat a gorgonite asteroid.

This episode can be seen as another illustration of Carl (C. G.) Jung’s concept of projection, when an individual projects bits of their own unconscious onto another.

“Star Trek Scouts Blast a Horta in Outer Space! – Asteroid Blaster #10” began with Roo introducing JR and Sprocket to a Horta, a creature made of rock that eats other rocks and turns them into diamonds. Then the astro alarm went off. An asteroid was heading straight for them. Before Sprocket could identify what kind of asteroid it was, their communication system was hacked by Shadowtrix, who appeared on the viewscreen. She told them to give her the Horta. When the Star Trek Scouts refused, she informed them that she had sent a gorgonite asteroid toward them. The asteroid deflector wheel was activated and a metal baseball bat was chosen as the weapon to use against the asteroid. The metal baseball bat was energized and fired into the asteroid. It did not work. The asteroid deflector wheel was activated again, and the next weapon chosen was a stellar sledgehammer. After that didn’t work either, Shadowtrix appeared again on the viewscreen, and once again demanded that the Star Trek Scouts give her the Horta. The Horta told Roo that it wanted to eat the gorgonite asteroid. The Horta was launched into the asteroid, ate it, and returned safely to the Star Trek Scouts. Shadowtrix admitted that she had been defeated.

In this episode, when the Star Trek Scouts and Shadowtrix valued the Horta because it turned rock into diamonds, this can be analogized to when an individual projects bits of unconscious material onto another. But Roo listening to the Horta, when the Hort told her that it wanted to eat the gorgonite asteroid, can be compared to when an individual lifts their projection from another and the other individual can be seen for who they really are. At the same time, the individual who was doing the projection incorporates what was once unconscious into the conscious ego, making it stronger and the psyche more whole.
